What are seaweeds?

Seaweed
Seaweeds are found growing on seashores in most parts of the world. Although many seaweeds are large, they are all in fact simple plants called algae. Unlike flowering plants, they do not have true leaves, stems, or roots. Seaweeds are attached to rocks by branching holdfasts that are tough enough to withstand pounding waves.
