What is lightning?
|
Lightning is a huge electric spark. During a thunderstorm, clouds become electrically charged to a very high voltage. When the voltage reaches a certain strength, a giant spark jumps from the cloud to the ground, or between two clouds. A shock wave in the air causes a loud clap of thunder.
