How do computers forecast the weather?
|
| A computer-generated model of cloud formation over North America | Computerised weather forecasting uses some of the most powerful computers in the world. This is because there is such a vast amount of data, and the calculations have to be made very quickly. Measurements of temperature, pressure, humidity, and other weather conditions are taken from around the world. This information is used by the computer to calculate how it will affect the weather model held in its memory.
