Who invented the jet aeroplane?
Englishman Frank Whittle patented the jet engine in 1930, but in 1935 Hans von Ohain of Germany took out a similar patent. The first jet aeroplane to fly was the German Heinkel He-178, in 1939. The British Gloster Whittle E-28 flew in 1941.
