What is a monorail?
A monorail is a railway that has only one rail. This reduces friction and allows the trains to move faster and use less energy. On most monorails the train rides on top of a concrete beam. Magnetic levitation (Maglev) trains of the future will use a magnetic field to 'float' over the track, eliminating friction altogether.
