What was a galleon?
Related Image
A galleon was a three- or four-mast sailing ship adapted for use as a warship in the 16th and 17th centuries. The largest carried more than 800 men. Galleons were armed on two or three decks with cannon, fired through portholes at enemy vessels. Galleons were used by several seafaring European nations. They remained in service until the late 18th century.
