Where did the galaxies come from?
|
Astronomers think that the galaxies in the universe were formed after the Big Bang, when space was full of energy. The energy gradually turned into atoms. Over millions of years these atoms drifted together under gravity into clouds of gas, and formed into galaxies containing stars and planets. | | Since the Big Bang, the universe has been expanding, causing the galaxies to rush away from each other. |
