Why do comets have tails?
|
When a comet approaches the Sun, its ice begins to melt. This releases dust and gas, which make a cloud around the comet. The cloud is pushed into a tail by streams of particles from the Sun called the solar wind. The tail always points away from the Sun. | The tail of Halley's comet |
