What is a space walk?
|
When astronauts leave their spacecraft on a space walk, they do not really walk at all; they simply float in space. They have to do space walks to make repairs to satellites, space telescopes, or even their own spacecraft. Sometimes they use a special backpack called a manned manoeuvring unit (MMU for short). | | An astronaut fires tiny gas jets from the manned manoeuvring unit in order to move about. |
