What is a space station?
A space station is a spacecraft that permanently orbits Earth. On board, astronauts and scientists carry out scientific experiments and see how people react to living in the weightlessness of space. Space stations have living areas and working areas. People sleep in bags on the walls, and there are washrooms adapted for weightless conditions. Solar panels turn sunlight into electricity, which the station needs in order to work.
