What is the universe?

The universe contains everything that exists. It includes the Earth, the Sun and Moon, the other planets in our solar system, all the billions of stars, and all the space between them. With powerful telescopes and other scientific instruments, astronomers have found out a great deal of information about the universe and how it works.
