Who first understood the Solar System?
|
In 1543 Nicolaus Copernicus put forward a theory that the Sun was at the centre of the universe, and that the planets moved round it. But the Catholic Church refused to accept this, believing that Earth was at the centre of the universe, and Copernicus's theory was banned.
