What were early African villages like?
|
South of the Sahara, Africa was populated by hundreds of different tribes, each with their own culture. Whatever their way of life, the villages had much in common. Houses were built of wood, clay, or grass. Round huts were very common, each being used for a single purpose such as cooking or sleeping. Huts were usually grouped around a courtyard in which a single family lived. Many Africans still live in traditional villages and huts.
