What was the Industrial Revolution?

The Industrial Revolution is the name given to a time of great change in Britain. Before the 1700s, people made goods in small quantities, by hand. During the 1700s, machines were invented that made goods much more quickly. Manufacturing industry had begun, and it soon spread around the world. Factories were built, and people moved from the country to the towns to work in them.
