What was Paris like in the 14th century?
The centre of the city of Paris was an island in the River Seine, joined to the rest of the city by bridges. Barges brought goods down the river from all over France. Most houses were made of wood, but the grander buildings were stone. Grandest of all was the cathedral of Notre-Dame with its twin towers.
