When were aircraft first used in battle?
|
Aircraft were used in battle for the first time during the First World War (1914-18). At first they were used to spy on enemy troops, but later guns and bombs were fitted. The triplane was preferred to the biplane because it had greater lift and was easier to manoeuvre.
