Who led the Germans during the Second World War?
|
Adolf Hitler led the Germans during the Second World War (1939-45). His aim was to build a German Empire. In September 1938 he forced Austria to merge with Germany, and Czechoslovakia to hand territory over to him. The following year, he declared war on Poland. This caused Britain and France to declare war against the Germans, but by the end of 1940, France was defeated and Britain isolated. The Americans joined the war against the Germans in 1941, following an attack on Pearl Harbour by Japan (who was allied to Germany), and Germany was finally defeated in 1945.
