How do animals communicate?
Animals signal to each other mainly by using visual signals, such as shape or colour, and by sound. Birds such as the painted snipe have showy wings which they fan out to make an impression. Many birds sing to mark their territories or attract a mate. Most frogs produce a croaking song to mark their territories or attract a mate.
