What is unusual about the seahorse?
Apart from its curious shape, the seahorse is unusual because it is the male and not the female who looks after the eggs and young. He has a brood pouch on his belly, and this can hold up to 200 eggs and young. When the young are old enough, the male expels them from the pouch.
