How does the praying mantis get its name?
|
The praying mantis is a fierce, predatory insect that catches other insects for food. Its front pair of legs are specially adapted for grabbing prey. As the mantis is stalking its victim, these legs are held folded under its head. When it does this, it looks as if it might be praying, and this is how it got its name.
