How does a lion catch its prey?
|
Although its prey may be fast-moving, a lion is stealthy and will creep close to its victim before making its attack. Lions often work as a team with different individuals cutting off the prey's line of escape. Animals such as the wildebeest are sometimes killed with a bite to the neck that crushes the vertebrae. On other occasions, the lion suffocates its prey by gripping on to the throat.
