How does a plant complete its life cycle?
|
Every year, plants produce large numbers of seeds which fall to the ground. Many die, but some will germinate. Tiny roots and shoots grow from the seed and soon the plant increases in size. As the plant grows larger, more and more leaves are produced and eventually flowers appear. Pollen from male flowers fertilises female flowers and the base of the flower begins to swell. It is here that this year's seeds are being made, completing the plant's life cycle.
