What were the terror cranes?
|
|
Terror cranes were giant birds that lived some 50 million years ago in North America. They stood 2 metres tall and hunted small mammals in areas of open grassland. They had strong legs for running, and a powerful, hook-tipped bill for dealing with their prey. Terror cranes are given the scientific name Diatryma.
