How does a lobster use its claws?
A lobster has five pairs of legs, but only uses four pairs for walking. The front pair have developed into large claws or pincers. These are very strong and hard. They are used for crushing the shells of molluscs or even for catching small fish. But lobsters do little hunting and usually eat the remains of dead animals on the seabed. Lobsters also use their pincers to shred their food and to fight other lobsters.
