What is inside the Earth?
The thin outer layer of the Earth is called the crust. Beneath this is the solid mantle that makes up most of the Earth. The mantle is a mixture of rocks and minerals. Right at the centre of the Earth is the core of molten iron and nickel. The inner part of the core may be as hot as 6,500 degrees C.
