What lies under the oceans?
|
The sea floor has plains, valleys, mountains, and even volcanoes. Near the shore is the shallow continental shelf. This slopes to the plain, about 4,000 metres below. On the plain are deep cracks called ocean trenches, and raised areas called ridges.
