How does the sea change the coastline?
|
The waves of the sea constantly pound the edge of the land. They change the shape of the coastline in two ways. First, the waves smash against the rocks and grind them into pebbles and sand. They hurl the pebbles at the cliffs, slowly wearing them away. But the sea also moves the sand and pebbles to other places. Beaches are formed, and the coastline is built up where the sea drops them.
