How are cars made?
|
Most cars are manufactured on production lines. The vehicle is placed on an assembly platform which moves slowly through the factory. At each stage along the line, workers or robots gradually complete the car. First, the floor pan is pressed from steel sheet, then the body is welded and checked for alignment. Any final body welding is done. Next, the undercoat and colour paint is applied and dried. The body is now finished. The engine is now assembled and the electrical and cooling systems fitted. The interior, doors, and wheels are fitted and finally, tests are carried out on the finished car.
