Why do car engines need oil?
As a car travels, many of its parts move against each other. The different parts of the engine move at high speed. Oil is pumped from the oil pan to lubricate the bearings, pistons, and other components, allowing the metal parts to move without causing wear or generating heat through friction. Some vehicles use special oils if they are to be used in very cold conditions.
