What are crystals?
Crystals are solid pieces of material with flat faces set at angles to each other. All crystals of the same substance have the same angles between their faces. Crystals form in this way because their atoms always lie in the same regular patterns. Salt, sugar, and quartz are crystals. Minerals can sometimes be identified by the shape of their crystals.
