What are computer peripherals?
Peripherals are devices that input or output information to or from a computer. The computer itself consists of a case with electronic circuits inside. All other equipment is peripheral, meaning that it is outside of or extra to the computer. A mouse or a keyboard is most commonly used to input instructions, and a monitor and printer to output them. Information can be stored on the hard disk (in the computer itself) or on floppy disks, CD ROM or DVD. Virtual reality devices, fax machines, and picture scanners can be attached to the computer. A laptop computer is a small portable computer that may also be connected to peripherals.
