How fast does light travel?

The speed of light is 300,000 kps, faster than anything else in the universe. Light takes roughly 8.5 minutes to travel from the Sun to the Earth. Looking at distant objects allows us to look back in time. When we look at a remote galaxy, we see it as it was when the light left it.
