How is cloth made on a loom?
|
A loom is a machine that joins together two yarns (long threads) in a criss-cross pattern, to make a cloth. The warp yarn is strung along the loom. The threads are raised and lowered, forming a gap or 'shed'. Then a shuttle carrying the weft yarn is passed through the shed. Yarns can be woven into many different patterns.
