Satellites orbiting the Earth are observing our planet all the time. A satellite called Seasat bounced radar signals off the sea to carry out oceanographic research. Other satellites measure the temperature of the sea and land, wind speed and direction, the height of waves, and pollution. They also measure forest clearance, iceberg movements, crop diseases, volcanic eruptions, and the ocean floor.
