What is the Eiffel Tower?
The Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous French landmarks. Designed by the engineer Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, it was built in 1889 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. It stands 300 metres high, and is a slender pyramid made from 7,000 tonnes of iron girders.
