What is a Maglev train?
|
Maglev trains are the trains of the future. They have been designed without wheels and use the principle of magnetic levitation to raise them off the track. With friction almost eliminated, they can be propelled forward at speeds of up to 400 kph. Prototypes of these 'maglev' trains have already been built in Germany and Japan. In the future it is anticipated that maglevs will reach speeds of up to 800 kph.
