Where did the Voyager space probes go?
|
Voyager 1 and 2 were launched in 1977. The pull of gravity from the outer planets guided the spacecraft from one planet to the next. Voyager 1 flew past Jupiter in 1979 and Saturn in 1980. Voyager 2 flew past Jupiter (1979), Saturn (1981), Uranus (1986), and Neptune (1989). Their cameras and instruments studied each planet. All the information was sent back to Earth by radio. | Probes to the outer planets can have complex orbits. Voyager 2 reached Neptune via Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. |
