What did the Apollo spacecraft look like?
|
Apollo was made in three sections. The command module was where the three crew members lived for most of the journey. Behind this was the service module. This contained the rocket engine and tanks for fuel and oxygen. The lunar module was used for landing on the Moon. It had four legs that spread out to support it on the Moon's surface. The lunar module and service module were left behind in space. Only the command module returned to splash down in the Pacific Ocean.
