How is a space station built?
|
A space station is much too big to launch in one piece. Instead, it is launched in sections that have to be connected together in space. The Russian space station Mir was built in this way. The base unit was launched in 1986, followed by three more modules that were linked to it. In 1998, the first of dozens of parts for a new international space station were launched and then linked together.
