Many festivals, such as national holidays, birthday celebrations, and anniversaries, take place on the same date each year. But sometimes the birthdays of kings and queens do not fall on a convenient day, so they have two birthdays - a real one and an 'official' one! Many religious festivals are very ancient and are based on the appearance of the Moon or on religious calendars.
