Raksha Bandhan
|
Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival held in August for brothers and sisters. Sisters give their brothers a rakhi, a bracelet made of thread. It is tied around a charm which will bring good luck. In return, brothers promise to care for their sisters and look after them. Bracelets and rings are a sign of friendship. Many young people in western countries now make 'friendship bracelets' of braided, coloured thread.
