On May 8, 1995, people in London and many other European cities celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of peace coming to Europe, at the end of World War II. This special VE ('Victory in Europe') day was marked by street parties, dancing, and the lighting of beacons. Many people wore 1940s- style dress. | | A street party |
