At this ceremony at the Chongmyo shrine in South Korea, Confucian priests honour the royal ancestors of the Yi family, who ruled Korea until 1910. Confucius was a Chinese thinker who lived 2,500 years ago, and he believed in ritual and social harmony. He taught that these values should decide the way we behave. Children should honour their parents, parents should honour ancestors, and everyone should honour their ruler.
