Settlements
The main Viking settlements were in Denmark, southern Norway, and around the coasts and islands of the Baltic Sea. Trelleborg was a royal fortress, built in the 10th century, possibly by King Harald Bluetooth. The main buildings were protected by a circular earthen rampart.
