If you want to sound like a full band, but using only your voice, what sounds do you need to make? A good way to start is to have a listen to some music. Can you hear lots of different types of sounds? How many can you hear in the piece of music you are listening to? Usually a piece of music will have a number of different sounds going on at the same time:

Percussion - The BEAT of the drum! This is the rhythm part of the music. There are different types of drum sounds too - all have a certain type of noise and add a different layer of sound. There might also be other percussion instruments, like the xylophone or glockenspiel.

Guitar - This is the section that holds the harmony part of the music.

Melody - Then there's the actual tune itself that the lead singer creates.
