Belt Up
The Spartans, who lived in Greece over 2000 years ago,
came up with some much better ideas. In 405BC a servant delivered a secret
message to a Spartan general called Lysander. The message was written
on the inside of the servant's belt, and when Lysander wound the belt
around a wooden stick, the message was decoded.

The message told Lysander that
the Persians were about to invade. He used the information to his advantage,
quickly setting sail and defeating the Persians in battle.
If you try this one out for
yourself, use a strip of paper or you'll ruin your belt!
