Internet - a huge network that links together lots of computers from all over the world

Webpage - a screen in a website: this could contain text, images, animations - anything you like!

Website - a collection of files that can be seen using the internet
WWW - (stands for World Wide Web) this is ALL of the linked websites in the whole world!

Modem - most people use one of these so that they can access the internet. If you have a modem it means that you can use your telephone line to get the internet on your computer

Online - this means that you are connected to a network, such as the internet (which means it could be running up the telephone bill!)

HTML - this stands for 'Hypertext Markup Language' (wow!), which is the kind of language computers use to communicate with each other

Download - this is when you are moving files onto your computer from another computer using a network such as the internet. Sometimes this might take some time to happen because of the amount of information that needs to be moved, or the type of connection your computer has

Icon - websites quite often use them. An icon is a small picture on a computer screen that represents something. For instance, on the What if website, the rocket launcher is an icon that represents launching a game
