Archery
Bows and arrows were used by the Vikings in battle and
to hunt animals. To practice their skills, they would have archery competitions,
and the winners would be thought of very highly. They would probably have
shot at targets over a wide range of distances. Close targets would be
good for practising archery for battles, while long range targets would
be good practice for hunting, when it might not be possible to get very
near the animal you were shooting at.
