Plot

What is the story actually about; what is the plot?

The plot is what ties the story together – it is the sequence of events that occurs through the course of the story, moving it towards the ending. A plot could involve something that happens to the main character, or something which occurs to a group, or an event. It could also be something inside the character, for example, the main character could find out something about him/herself during the story.

As the story moves towards the end, it should have a build-up of tension so that you keep your reader interested. The ending could have a twist; something unexpected could happen, giving the story a high point of tension right at the end.
