Style and tone

This is how you tell your story. The style and tone of your story is just as important as the plot and it will differ depending on what the story genre is - that means what type of story you are writing, whether it’s romance, science-fiction, folk, scary, etc.

A romance may have more descriptions of scenes to create atmosphere, such as 'The park was gloriously sunny that afternoon...' A science-fiction story, on the other hand, might have more action and dialogue, e.g. "Beam me up!"

First decide the genre of your story, and see if you can write in a style and tone that suits it.
